Piano tuning

Piano tuning is the delicate adjustment by the piano tuner of the 240 strings in your piano so that your piano plays in tune. Changes in temperature, humidity, and making music all cause pianos to go out of tune. The piano tuner usually takes about 1 to 2 hours to tune your piano. The Piano Tuners’ Association recommends tuning your piano every six months.

A piano tuner is a highly skilled professional whose trained ear listens for the tiniest discrepancies so that correct adjustment can return the piano to its harmonious balance. We are available to tune your piano on demand as well as arranging to make regular tuning appointments.

Please note that there may be a possibility that in our assessment your piano cannot be tuned. In every case a call out fee will apply.

Pitch correction…

… is extra help that may be necessary for your piano when it hasn’t been tuned for a long time. After an initial assessment by the piano tuner this long and intensive process may be recommended if the pitch has drifted significantly. It can be a vital first step for long-neglected pianos or those exposed to environmental challenges.

Piano repairs

Pianos are complex mechanical instruments, and even small issues affect how they sound and feel. If you find that you have a problem, please get in touch. Repair times can vary – sometimes on-the-spot fixes are possible but longer jobs may require parts to be ordered and will need follow-up visits. If we discover anything during the tuning appointment, we will tell immediately and provide clear, no-pressure advice on the best solution for your piano.

We also carry out piano servicing.
